SylvanSport WayLight: Official Torch of the 2024 Olympics
The 2024 Games in Paris, France to be kicked off with SylvanSport light-up hiking pole.
Brevard, NC – April 1, 2023   SylvanSport, the Brevard, NC-based maker of award-winning and innovative camping trailers, rooftop tents, and outdoor gear proudly announces their partnership with the 2024 Summer Olympics, to be held in Paris, France. From the Olympic website: First used at the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics, the modern torches of the Summer and Winter Olympics are built to resist the effects of wind and rain as they carry the Olympic flame, and bear unique designs that represent the host country and the spirit of the Games.
“When we first saw the SylvanSport WayLight, we immediately thought that it would make the perfect torch for the 2024 Games,” shared Jack Straw, President of the International Olympic Committee. “The only stumbling block was that it is a US-based company, and did not reflect the host country of France. That was until we discovered that SylvanSport’s Vice President of Sales, Florian Peyssoneaux, is actually from France. This was all the connection we needed.”
The WayLight hiking pole is a unique hiking pole that features a 3-way LED light, intended to guide outdoor enthusiasts through the woods if they happen to be out after dark or as a fun and easy way to get around the campground. With its weather resistant design, rechargeable lighting, and adjustable height, the WayLight is not only the perfect campsite companion, but in this case, fits the bill to be used as the official Olympic torch.
“We never thought of its use in the Olympics when we designed the WayLight,” states SylvanSport CEO, Tom Dempsey. “We currently have a team of 6 people working on designing a custom grip so runners can comfortably carry the WayLight torch for long distances and a variety of weather conditions.”

Commemorative Olympic WayLights are available on the SylvanSport website, although they look very similar to the regular WayLight, with no Olympic logos, colors, or other indication of any type of connection to the Olympics whatsoever.
